As I was looking for inspiration for this weekโs inquiry entry, I found a heart pattern that I loved:
As Valentineโs Day was coming, I thought this will be a great entry for this week. I looked up a tutorial on YouTube and I found this one:
I liked this video because is well explained, seemed easy to follow and I will be mostly using the satin stitch that I learnt last week.
This was my process for this week projecthttps://reynabc.opened.ca/2022/02/09/embroidery-stitches-for-beginners-%f0%9f%aa%a1/:

Here is my final product:

I liked how my project looks. I can see how the hearts got better as I kept practicing. Although the purple heart on the upper right is not even (it is the first heart I embroidered), I decided to leave it as it is as a reminder of my embroidery journey and that love does not have to be perfect ๐
The hardest part of this project: embroider the heart shape
Easiest part: placing the fabric in the embroidery hoop
Time to complete the project: 2h
Thanks for reading and happy valentine’s day ๐

Hello, Reyna.
What a topical subject, and it does seem well chosen to practice the satin stitch. I also like the refreshing variety in colours: Valentine’s Day is so often drenched in red. It was neat to see your own pictures of the work, and interesting to see you trace the pattern from the screen–a most practical way to imitate a tutorial or exemplar found on the Internet.
I noticed that, while the video and your own work use an up-and-down satin stitch, the DIY tutorial you linked displays a side-to-side stitch. This made me wonder if there was any difference in the two approaches, aside from aesthetics. I wonder if a little note or acknowledgement of that might have been helpful.
Hi Reyna,
This is a great project that I think you carried out very well. I enjoyed the inclusion of a song to listen to as you read the post, it created a nice ambience. It was also great that you showed all of your attempts, not just the one you thought looked the best. I’m not sure if you are just practicing the stiches or if you had an idea on how you would like to use these hearts but I feel like they would be cute embroidered onto clothing;
